Coaching with a working tech recruiter

in LinkedIn Top Voice

I recruit for tech teams every week, and in our first session I share my screen and show you what your application runs into before a person reads it: the recruiter search for your target role and how the ATS (applicant tracking system) parses your CV. Then we fix it together, in the order that matters.

13 yearson the hiring side
5,000+interview hours
26,000+CVs read
300+coached, from graduate to Head of

This is built for people who are

Moving from mid-level to senior and want to make the case with evidence, not hope

Switching into tech and need their experience read correctly

New to the ANZ market as international or relocating talent

Stepping into leadership and want to lead with a plan

Getting interviews but not offers, and can't find out why

Before I give you a single tip, I show you the machine

Most career advice is written by people guessing at what happens after you apply. I don't have to guess. So we start with the part most advice skips.

The ATS parse

What the software reduces your CV to before a human is involved. I score yours in Careersy AI on the call so you see it on your own CV, not a sample. This is an estimate of how that software reads it, not any employer's actual result.

The recruiter search

I run the search a recruiter would run for your target role, live, so you see whether you appear and where.

The “Open to Work” setting

How recruiters actually use it, and why I'll often suggest turning it on.

What happens after you apply

Why applying broadly to the same companies can work against you, and when a referral carries more weight than an application.

The Careersy method

Hiring moves toward whatever reduces risk for the person deciding. Most advice works on your substance. We work on your signal, so the people deciding can read you earlier and with less guesswork.

Fix

Your value in two sentences, then the CV, LinkedIn and interview answers built on them.

Move

Fewer applications, more context: the right people, reached directly, with practice before each round.

How people actually get in

61%got in through a referral, a headhunt or hustle
38%got in by applying

Introductions, when they fit

Where I know someone at a company you're targeting and the fit is real, I make the introduction myself and coach you through the conversation. I make it when you're ready, not before, and only where I can vouch for you. It's part of Premium.

Your coaching hub

Every package comes with a private hub in Notion. I set it up when you start and you keep it after we finish.

  • A recap page for every session, with the transcript and a summary
  • Where you are now: your current stage and the one thing in flight
  • Your standing plan, with progress marked
  • The Resume Writing Method and LinkedIn Method guides
  • Links to the tools you already have, including Careersy AI
Coaching hub: Hello Friend 👋

Everything from your coaching sessions lives here. Each session gets its own page underneath this one, and your current plan stays at the top so there is one place to look.

Where you are now

Stage: LinkedIn profile rebuild, in flight.

The one thing in flight: Open to Work is off while you rebuild the profile. Five changes to make, then turn it back on and count the recruiter messages you get that week.

Who you'd be working with

I've been on the hiring side of ANZ tech for 13 years: agency recruitment for banks and household names, technology consulting, a fast-growing fintech, and now big tech. I started Careersy Coaching in 2021 because I kept watching capable people get cut for reasons nobody explained to them. I still recruit every week, so what I show you is what's happening to applications now, not what happened a decade ago.
